Micro Bird combines more than 150 years of expertise in designing and manufacturing buses. That’s not a number we’ve arrived at accidentally: it’s the sum of two companies, Girardin Minibus and Blue Bird Corporation, who each spent decades learning exactly how to build these vehicles, then joined forces to do it better than anyone else.
We don’t build transit buses, motorcoaches, or heavy-duty freight vehicles. We build school buses and commercial shuttlesand because that’s all we do, we’ve had time to get very, very good at it.
The result is a bus that costs more on the invoice and less over its lifetime. One that drivers like operating, mechanics can maintain without a specialist on call, and school boards can resell for more when the time comes.
When you look at what a bus actually costs, over 10 or 15 years of operation, the conversation changes.
Micro Bird buses are built with aluminum body panels that resist corrosion and reduce repair costs. The galvanized steel structure means less degradation over time. The alternative fuel options, including electric and propane, mean lower operating costs per kilometer from day one.
Most importantly: Micro Bird holds the highest resale value in the Type A class across North America. That’s not a claim; it’s the outcome of building something properly, with components that last.
There are routes to plan, budgets to defend, accessibility requirements to meet, and board members to satisfy. There’s the question of fuel (gas, propane, or electric) and what that means for your total operating cost over the next decade. There’s the question of timeline, of maintenance support, and of what happens if something goes wrong on a Tuesday morning in February.
We know all of this. Not because we’ve studied it from the outside, but because we’ve been helping school boards work through exactly these questions for generations. Our job doesn’t end when we hand you the keys.
Every person who buys a Micro Bird bus has access to the people who built it, the team behind it, and the network around it. We’re not a catalog. We’re a manufacturer that takes your decision as seriously as you do.

We’re not here to rush you. We’re here to make sure you get to the right answer.
